Simple and important: authorizing Maps to use your location is essential for the app to show you where you are in real time. Ideally, you should give the platform permission to automatically access your location at any time, so that when you access the app, it can quickly identify your location.

Calibrate the app's compass
Calibrating the compass is an option within the Maps system itself. It helps to maintain accurate location and can be accessed by clicking on the blue icon with your position on the map. Then, make movements as if you were writing the number eight until the app indicates that the accuracy is “high”.

Update the app whenever necessary
In addition to fixing many bugs, software updates also add new features that may be important for everyday use of the map. For this reason, it is important to always keep the application up to date.

However, the update does not always happen automatically. You will need to go to your app store (App Store or Google Play), search for Google Maps and check if there are any updates to be made. If there are, a button option that says “Update” will be available. Just click on it.

Clear cache and data
The accumulation of cache and data in the app can overload the storage system, making it difficult for it to function. Therefore, periodic cleaning can help free up space, including for updates that need to be downloaded.

Didn't anything work?
If none of these options solve the problem, you can try the good old “restart” of your phone. If the errors persist, we recommend that you contact the Google team through “Help and feedback” and report the problem.

Within the tab there is a field reserved for your opinion about the app, “Your opinion about Maps”, tap on it and describe the situation.
